2025 Northern Beaches Environmental Art & Design Prize finalist
I have been making sculptures with bricks I have found washed up on my local beach and I am please to say that Jetsam Sentinels is a finalist in the 2025 Northern Beaches Environmental Art & Design Prize.
Originally formed from clays sourced both locally and across the continent, these bricks carry layered histories: of extraction, occupation, settlement, and labour. Their weathered shapes have been my quiet companions, stacked precariously in various studios. Whispering to be picked up, handled, and assembled, they lingered in the background, their forms and haptic presence seeping into my work by stealth, surfacing in curves, textures, and unintended echoes.
Congratulations to all the finalists, I look forward to seeing all the work in July.
