As part of the annual MARS Gallery Christmas Show I exhibited a collection of 7 vessels called ‘Midnight Brocade’ based on our love of wearing black.

Artist Statement: “From the Widow’s Weeds of the Victorian era, to the chic Little Black Dress, a carefully crafted black outfit has a visual potency hard to ignore. 

Midnight Brocade is a collection of vessels that take their cue from our changing attitudes to, and ultimately love of, wearing black and its possibility to communicate multiple and conflicting meanings that can be pious or provocative depending on the situation and cultural connotations of the day.”
